“My work is characterized by compassion, intuition, humor and solid leadership skills. My passion is fueled by my belief that every human being has the capacity to thrive, whether by healing from emotional wounds, nurturing their spiritual essence or by cultivating their leadership potential. Happiness and joy are abundant, and free! There are infinite ways that we can harvest and nurture our happiness, so let’s explore those ways together, shall we?” -Dawn E. Shedrick

Hi There! I’m Dawn E. Shedrick, LCSW, the co-founder of Babylon Counseling & Wellness Services. Combining my advanced education and training as a psychotherapist with my extensive experience as a nonprofit administrator and leader, I offer significant expertise in various areas of human behavior and development.  I’m also the Chief Social Media & Marketing Officer of BCWS as well as the Editor of this site.  Good times to be had all around ;-)

A Psychotherapist…

With a range of experience in training in counseling and human behavior, my particular specializations include the mental health needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, those who are questioning and exploring their sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as individuals and couples navigating concerns and struggles with their sexual health or sexual dysfunction.

A Leadership Coach and Consultant

The hallmark of my professional journey has been my leadership skills. Beginning as a supervisor right out of college, I was able to craft my own leadership style through my relationships with my supervisors and managers, company-sponsored and personally-sponsored leadership training, lots of personal research and reading and, in a few instances, trial and error. The end result is a stellar career as an administrator and leader in which I was (and still am) blessed to have motivated my peers and employees to thrive both individually and as teams.

An experienced leadership coach and consultant, I’ve worked on projects that include coaching mid-level managers and executives in nonprofit and corporate organizations, designing staff development programs for human service agencies, writing health information manuals and literature, and developing and facilitating organizational training programs. I also provide individual clinical supervision and coaching to mental health clinicians seeking to develop their personal clinical styles as well as their visions for the practices.

A Public Speaker and Trainer…

Sought-after as a public speaker who can engage audiences of any size, my presentations are both educational and entertaining. I’ve designed and facilitated workshops and training programs on clinical practice issues, wellness, work/life balance, leadership and communication skills. I have also served as a keynote speaker and presenter at various colleges, industry events and conferences throughout the United States.

A Retreat Planner & Facilitator

I am a lover of retreats…whether it be a personal sojourn for silence and relaxation or a destination retreat to some tropical oasis that involves personal reflection, sharing and goal-setting. Retreats allow us an opportunity to escape our everyday lives and commit to relaxing our minds and bodies while engaging in activities (or lack thereof!) that promote rejuvenation on all levels.

I combine my years of experience planning conferences, seminars and fundraisers with my personal zest for the power of retreats to design, produce and facilitate retreats of all sizes and at various locations.  Stay tuned to our events page for upcoming retreats produced by BCWS, or feel free to contact me to discuss how I can design and facilitate a workshop or activity for your retreat.

I invite you to call me at (631) 482-8010 or click here to email me to discuss how I can help you in any way.
