“My style focuses not merely on reducing symptoms but looks at all elements of your life. I have seen outstanding results when the mind, body and spirit have been incorporated into the therapeutic process. I utilize constructive feedback, humor, and compassion to move you toward a path for personal growth. I sincerely believe that all individuals have the potential to thrive and have fulfilling emotional, physical and spiritual lives. Engaging in treatment can distinguish the difference between surviving in your life versus THRIVING in your life!” -Michelle L. Delevante
Hello, I’m Michelle L. Delevante, LCSW, co-founder of Babylon Counseling & Wellness Services. I bring a rich history of clinical experience and program development to my work at BCWS. I’ve honed my skills in various mental health and substance abuse clinics throughout Long Island and was in private practice for several years before joining forces with Dawn E. Shedrick to establish Babylon Counseling & Wellness Services. I am the Chief Busines & Financial Officer of BCWS. Contrary to popular belief, there actually are social workers out there who love to crunch numbers and I’m the leader of the pack ![]()
As a Psychotherapist…
My interest in sexual health inspired me to pursue certification as a sex therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). I was awarded certification in 2006 after enduring rigorous advanced training and supervision in sex therapy and remain a member in good standing. I’ve worked with individuals and couples who have sought to address sexual issues and enhance intimacy.
I also love to write and have been published in Contemporary Sexuality, conducted a book review of “Get Out of Your Boxx” by Mary Jo Fay and was quoted on SheKnows.com for my expertise in body image, sexual self-esteem and human sexuality. While working at Seafield Center as a substance abuse counselor I established a program for male sexual abuse survivors.
As An Educator…
Each one teach one! I served as an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College as well as a guest speaker at Hofstra University. I’m committed to educating fellow colleagues and students by bringing them the latest in current research and practices. My teaching style is dynamic, interactive, entertaining and informal. I have a knack for creating an ideal environment for an enriching educative experience.
As A Consultant…
I facilitated the Batterer’s Intervention Program for Suffolk County’s psycho-educational HALT (Help Abusers Learn Together) Program. Working with mandated populations with criminal justice issues is a hallmark and passion of my clinical practice and expertise. I underwent extensive didactic training via the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk to gain the knowledge and experience to work with such challenging individuals.
